A Weekend full of Fun, Family, and Foils?!!

Hey-O everyOne:

How are all of you?!! It's been a while... Well, I had a very exciting weekend! The owner of this beautiful shop "Desert Blossom Boutique" (and salon) has a HUGE family that travels far and wide to come visit her beautiful shop, spend time with family and of course to get pampered and beautified! These women travel from Thatcher, to Tucson, to Mesa and back to enjoy this wonderful experience of spending quality family time and let us not forget... Beauty time! So... I got the chance to show these girls my skills and passion for hair! Let's be honest... Blondes always have more fun?!! ;) check it out! Here are some fun pics.

Everyone Meet:
Joleen, Ashley and Lisa
AKA: Grandmother, Cousin and Aunt to the 2 amazing women that I get a chance to work with everyday! (Brooke and Cara) love you gals.

I've enjoyed every second of getting the chance to know each of these women and getting a little incite of what it's like to be in each one of their lives for just a few hours at a time! Being a grandmother and having the amazing positive attitude towards life lived and the living also, Never taking one second for granted! (Joleen)

Being a young, single adult just out of high school getting a "new" start in life and taking so much seriousness out of such a crucial time in life; finding yourself and never letting go! (Ashley)

And let us not forget a mother, aunt and wife to an amazing beautiful, sometimes surprising family ;) and never forgetting the true meaning of life pushing through the hard times and slow motioning the good. (Lisa)

There are days and clients that I get the honor of having in my chair on a daily basis but this weekend had to have been one that left a great impression on me. I cherish the experiences and people that keep my mind rolling and questioning and reassuring myself that it's good to be me. Everyday is a learning experience. Thanks ladies! Can't wait till my next adventure with you all!! btw... I've NEVER gone through so much lightener and foils in 2 days in my whole career until now. (I'll be ready for you)

BF and Ombré = a Magical Combination

Hey EVERYONE Meet: One of My Amazing BF's Tori!

Eric and I had the amazing pleasure of having our really really good friends from Utah come and stay with us in our new home!! It was a great time including dog parks, cinnabon, shopping, and of course some golf for Eric (my husband) and the boys.

We obviously had to take some time to beautify Tori, so we went to Blossom and spent a few hours creating this beautiful hair color!! For all of you out there that are wanting a change (big or small) I would definitely recommend Google-ing Omb images and doing a little research of all the amazing different options of Omb color! It is a good change and extremely easy and cheap upkeep. Just a color re-touch touch-up and you're out the door.

So, this was the idea that the beautiful Tori and I agreed on! And it turned out beautifully! Don't ya agree?!!! Let me know if any of you have questions or if you would like to have a color consultation! Hope you all had a fabulous Valentines Day (my favorite holiday)!!

The Eclectic Jenn

Everyone: Meet the Eclectic Jenn

I have had so much fun not only seeing Jenn again but, also, seeing Jenn in my chair! Here is a little background: Jenn and I are former co-workers! We haven't seen each other for a while so it was fun to catch up! She has a BEAUTIFUL family consisting of her husband and baby girl! I've loved the story and picture sharing as well as some future parenting advice! Seriously I love baby stories!!

Well here is what we have done! As you can tell I'm the worst a remembering before pictures but in this case I'm really wishing I did because this was a HUGE transformation!

Color Breakdown:
Jenn came in with dark brown hair. She hadn't had her color do e for a while so she had a lot of her natural re-growth as well. We proceeded with what is called (in the technical hair terms) a "Color Correction". I usually like to refer it to a 2 Color Process with clients so the title does not mislead you. The reason it's called a Color Correction is because the process of achieving your desired color (whatever the end goal is) it would require more work than just applying the desired color, letting it process and poof! There is your color!

This color required a "corrective" shampoo to lift away some of her dark color then allowing us to then apply her desired color over top. It's a longer process than normal. I usually quote clients about 3-4 hours.

Cut Breakdown:
Now, in this case the terms "corrective" cut is absolutely considered the real definition of the word "corrective"! She came in with a dis-connect cut. It was just a little too disconnected. So this cut was fun to dissect!! Taking it section by section to find all the areas that needed correcting! From the perimeter to the interior of her hair it required a lot of re-shaping. I had a BLAST! In result to this corrective cut: a fun layered hair cut. Creating a shattered look through her ends. Allowing Jenn to style in so many different ways!

It was so much fun catching up! Appointments like these I feel like I can honestly say I got to play with hair! Hope you enjoy the pics!!

The Lovely Grandparents

Everyone: Meet Grandma and Grandpa

I had the wonderful pleasure of doing my grandmothers hair! I have to be completely honest... Since the day I started hair school I have had this dream about the day my grandmother would ask me to do her hair. And it would kind of slowly and painfully turn into a little bit of a nightmare!!! I have heard only stories of my grandmothers history with her hair. Here is a little background info for all of you out there in case you are curious:

My grandmother has been cutting and perming her own hair for forever!! (I know that takes serious talent and patience if you ask me) She also, has a wonderful brother that has been a very talented and experienced hairdresser for forever! The stories I had heard were about the cuts that weren't exactly her favorites. I was nervous and a little bit scared for this day.

But... Guess what everyone?!! That day came and went, and I have to say it was an amazing learning experience and a memory that I will cherish till the day I die!! I only did a basic trim... About a 1/2 inch off everywhere and a little re-shaping of the layers is all she was requiring. She even said,"don't worry about styling I'll just leave wet..." Those of you who know me as a hairdresser know that the style is my FAV part! So, after a bit of convincing... She said yes! I had so much fun and I hope my grandmother enjoyed herself as well.

Don't forget about Grandpa:
Talk about the cutest husband ever! He say on the waiting couch and read all the gossip magazines and supported both of us the whole time!

A MASSIVE thanks to my amazing Grandparents!! I will NEVER forget this day! You mean so much to me and I treasure every second I get with you!

The Marvelous Mary

Everyone: Meet Mary

This is a beautiful and inspirational woman that I have had the pleasure of having as a client and friend! Mary has been so good to me! She tracked me down and booked an appointment with me as soon as I started at Blossom! I've enjoyed every second of talking with Mary. She has a beautiful daughter that I love hearing about! Mary shared a few pictures of her adorable husband with me at her last appointment and I have to say I was so touched and so inspired to never take the small things for granted! She definitely got an amazing catch! But to be completely honest I think he is more blessed to have her as a wife!

Well, here is her color and cut break down:

Color:
We add highlights in the back, sides, and top. Some times we only add a beautiful bright blonde highlight and other times we will add a very subtle low light of a darker blonde to add dimension. We never to a touch up of color at the root because she is a lucky one and doesn't need it! The highlights blend with any of the few grays that she has is enough, that a touch up is not necessary. (lucky)

Hot tip #1:
Those of you that have a problem with their grays... If you are used to the color service: Partial Highlight with an added Root Touch-up. And are wanting to get away from the root touch up and allow some of your grays to start subtly growing in this would be a great service to start trying!

Hot tip # 2:
Those of you who have grays and do not color your hair BUT... Want to add some color! This would be a great service to try! Of course I would recommend starting with few added highlights and lowlights and go from there!

Cut:
We like to keep the length slightly above the shoulders. Shorter at the nape of the neck and (gradually) slightly longer the sides. Adding some layers gives her the option of wearing is blown back, as well as towards the face, wearing it sleek and straight, or wearing her natural texture! Versatile haircut! Very professional yet still fun to play with!! We like this cut because it is very complimentary to her face shape!! Love it!!

Let me know if you have any questions or if you would like to book for this color and/or cut consultation! I can't wait to see ya again Mary!! Thank you again!!

That is right Everyone: I have got two for you tonight!

Everyone Meet: Erica (my most loyal client yet)

This is the BEAUTIFUL Erica! She is probably the most trendy person I know... Some people are just too good at being trendy and Miss Erica is definitely one of them! Great body, great clothes, and of course Great HAIR (thankfully because she's been so loyal!!;)

The first time I met Erica was at the very yummy P.F. Chang's grabbing lunch with another dear friend of mine! This dear friend of mine introduced me to Erica and I've been grateful to her ever since! She had the desire as a client for a new fun, trendy coloring technique called Ombre (aka "root shading", "color melt" etc...) and she had a goal of allowing her hair to grow long! I've enjoyed having Erica in my chair multiple times through out the past while! She is so full of life, she inspires me to never look back, to be excited for the future and to take every single step through life one step at a time! She's just graduated from dental assisting school and is just starting her first internship! Yay!! Congrats!! Im so blessed to have this girl in my life and I have a feeling we will continue to be in each others lives for a long time!! A HUGE shout out and THANKS for driving from Surprise to Mesa to see me! I don't think I can thank you enough (also to all you other clients that are driving to see me)!! I have the BEST clientele!

Those of you that are interested in this color: We started the Ombré color very subtle at first. Just adding a few highlights throughout the ends of her hair. Next, to darkening her roots and then creating more highlights through out the ends of her hair. And now we've gotten to the beautiful dark, dark color at the root, and all of her ends having a great lighter color! This coloring technique is best being done gradually!!! I always make sure that a color consultation is required before your color service so please be prepared with your own research of which color pallet you would like to choose!

You have to be willing to be patient in between color services. It always looks best a few days after the coloring is done. You need to be patient with your hair, to allow the color to blend together after a few washes. This is a trendy color technique that a lot of the celebs are going crazy about! A style that started in 2011 and it has been made VERY clear that it won't be going away any time soon! Yay!!

There are sooo many different ways to incorporate this fun color to not only brunettes but as well as blondes and reds! So get creative!! Give me a call if you have any questions about this color technique or if you'd like to book a color consultation!

I'm so happy to announce that because we've had the chance to gradually create this beautiful color and because I've threatened Erica with her life ;) that she had to stick to a 8-10 week rotation of healthy trims! Her hair has grown many inches and her color is perfect!! :) Erica, you are amazing and beautiful, I'm very jealous!

Amazing Blossom Co-Worker: Cara

This is one of the many amazing co-workers of mine at Blossom! Cara is the younger sister of the owner of Blossom and she is at the boutique possibly everyday of her life! At least whenever I'm there :) I always feel her passion and love this boutique everyday! I can tell, it's in her voice how happy she is at this amazing boutique!! She is usually at the front counter so make sure you all say hi whenever you come in!!

Well this is a funny story... When I first met Cara, her hair was about 3-4 inches longer than now!! She came into work one day and saw that I was cutting about 6 inches off another one of my co-workers (Maddie) hair into a very fun long, simple, a-line shaped, one layer bob! She mentioned to me after i finished (Maddie's cut) that she thought it was a sign when she came into work today because, she'd been wanting to cut her hair very similarly for a while now!! I asked her if she wanted me to do it right then and she said YES! Sure enough there we were getting her washed and shortly after taking about 4 inches off the back of her hair!

Well, she later mentioned that she was glad she finally did it and that another one of the stylists had refused to cut her hair for her because she'd worked so hard growing it out. Ha, funny how everything all works out! Eh? Well here is the outcome!! She looks beautiful and she is so fashionable!! Hope you all enjoy! Give me a call if you have any questions about this cut or style!!

This cut: A fun look for those of you that are looking for a CHANGE, willing to be flexible with possibly taking some length off. Also, looking for a VERY trendy style including extremely low maintenance, in most cases your natural texture looks best with this haircut! Other styles that work great with this cut are soft curls, sleek and straight, one side pinned back, still long enough to incorporate any braiding techniques etc... Such a cute new way for the celebrities to start the new "chop your hair" style!

Thank you to Cara for being so kind to me as a newbie at this salon and for giving me the opportunity to have fun and be creative with my skill in cutting!! I've enjoyed having you as a co-worker and also as a new friend!! Keeping me excited about new trends are all thanks to the amazing clients like Cara! (and many others) You all keep me enjoying what I do more and more everyday! I couldn't thank you enough!

A great day involves a GREAT client!

Everyone: Meet Elizabeth!

I have to admit up front that from the beginning of booking this appointment with Miss Elizabeth, I knew that I had some how how met her before but I just couldn't quite pin-point where and when!! It was driving me crazy!! I first got the e-mail from Miss E. asking to book an appointment a few days before and I was so excited to get her in my chair for her color and cut! But I have to admit I was a little nervous too because I didn't know if I should act like it was my first time meeting her, or if I should act like she was a return client! (this gets kinda embarrassing for me...)

She showed up on time I was ready to go, I asked her how her morning went and then I stuck my hand out and said, "now we officially meet!" She is just the sweetest thing, and she shook my hand and smiled! But at that moment it hit me that I knew her!! I just still didn't realize if it was from a past hair appointment or if I had met her in past acquaintances... She never called me out, but as the service went on it started coming back to me! Sure enough she is an amazing return client! I came to my senses and remembered it all and I began to apologize. Ha, we laughed a bit and then continued on in conversation (like I should have from the beginning of the appointment)!!

Her hair color came out beautifully!! She also, has the Most amazing hair texture! A hair texture that I will continue to dream of!! Very soft waves, easy to style In many versatile ways, curls, straight, up, down, you name it you got it with her hair!! Messy, natural textures are so in!! Elizabeth, you are a lucky woman and so " in with the trends" with your natural texture!! So jealous!!

This was the beautiful out come!! I thank the heavens for amazing clients like Elizabeth everyday! Thank you Elizabeth for being so kind and so patient with my memory!! Thank you also for being a fun return client and for making the drive from Anthem to Mesa to see me! (that goes out to all of you that are driving to come see me!) Love you guys!!
 So, Who's Next?!!
