A Weekend full of Fun, Family, and Foils?!!

Hey-O everyOne:

How are all of you?!! It's been a while... Well, I had a very exciting weekend! The owner of this beautiful shop "Desert Blossom Boutique" (and salon) has a HUGE family that travels far and wide to come visit her beautiful shop, spend time with family and of course to get pampered and beautified! These women travel from Thatcher, to Tucson, to Mesa and back to enjoy this wonderful experience of spending quality family time and let us not forget... Beauty time! So... I got the chance to show these girls my skills and passion for hair! Let's be honest... Blondes always have more fun?!! ;) check it out! Here are some fun pics.

Everyone Meet:
Joleen, Ashley and Lisa
AKA: Grandmother, Cousin and Aunt to the 2 amazing women that I get a chance to work with everyday! (Brooke and Cara) love you gals.

I've enjoyed every second of getting the chance to know each of these women and getting a little incite of what it's like to be in each one of their lives for just a few hours at a time! Being a grandmother and having the amazing positive attitude towards life lived and the living also, Never taking one second for granted! (Joleen)

Being a young, single adult just out of high school getting a "new" start in life and taking so much seriousness out of such a crucial time in life; finding yourself and never letting go! (Ashley)

And let us not forget a mother, aunt and wife to an amazing beautiful, sometimes surprising family ;) and never forgetting the true meaning of life pushing through the hard times and slow motioning the good. (Lisa)

There are days and clients that I get the honor of having in my chair on a daily basis but this weekend had to have been one that left a great impression on me. I cherish the experiences and people that keep my mind rolling and questioning and reassuring myself that it's good to be me. Everyday is a learning experience. Thanks ladies! Can't wait till my next adventure with you all!! btw... I've NEVER gone through so much lightener and foils in 2 days in my whole career until now. (I'll be ready for you)

BF and Ombré = a Magical Combination

Hey EVERYONE Meet: One of My Amazing BF's Tori!

Eric and I had the amazing pleasure of having our really really good friends from Utah come and stay with us in our new home!! It was a great time including dog parks, cinnabon, shopping, and of course some golf for Eric (my husband) and the boys.

We obviously had to take some time to beautify Tori, so we went to Blossom and spent a few hours creating this beautiful hair color!! For all of you out there that are wanting a change (big or small) I would definitely recommend Google-ing Omb images and doing a little research of all the amazing different options of Omb color! It is a good change and extremely easy and cheap upkeep. Just a color re-touch touch-up and you're out the door.

So, this was the idea that the beautiful Tori and I agreed on! And it turned out beautifully! Don't ya agree?!!! Let me know if any of you have questions or if you would like to have a color consultation! Hope you all had a fabulous Valentines Day (my favorite holiday)!!

The Eclectic Jenn

Everyone: Meet the Eclectic Jenn

I have had so much fun not only seeing Jenn again but, also, seeing Jenn in my chair! Here is a little background: Jenn and I are former co-workers! We haven't seen each other for a while so it was fun to catch up! She has a BEAUTIFUL family consisting of her husband and baby girl! I've loved the story and picture sharing as well as some future parenting advice! Seriously I love baby stories!!

Well here is what we have done! As you can tell I'm the worst a remembering before pictures but in this case I'm really wishing I did because this was a HUGE transformation!

Color Breakdown:
Jenn came in with dark brown hair. She hadn't had her color do e for a while so she had a lot of her natural re-growth as well. We proceeded with what is called (in the technical hair terms) a "Color Correction". I usually like to refer it to a 2 Color Process with clients so the title does not mislead you. The reason it's called a Color Correction is because the process of achieving your desired color (whatever the end goal is) it would require more work than just applying the desired color, letting it process and poof! There is your color!

This color required a "corrective" shampoo to lift away some of her dark color then allowing us to then apply her desired color over top. It's a longer process than normal. I usually quote clients about 3-4 hours.

Cut Breakdown:
Now, in this case the terms "corrective" cut is absolutely considered the real definition of the word "corrective"! She came in with a dis-connect cut. It was just a little too disconnected. So this cut was fun to dissect!! Taking it section by section to find all the areas that needed correcting! From the perimeter to the interior of her hair it required a lot of re-shaping. I had a BLAST! In result to this corrective cut: a fun layered hair cut. Creating a shattered look through her ends. Allowing Jenn to style in so many different ways!

It was so much fun catching up! Appointments like these I feel like I can honestly say I got to play with hair! Hope you enjoy the pics!!

The Lovely Grandparents

Everyone: Meet Grandma and Grandpa

I had the wonderful pleasure of doing my grandmothers hair! I have to be completely honest... Since the day I started hair school I have had this dream about the day my grandmother would ask me to do her hair. And it would kind of slowly and painfully turn into a little bit of a nightmare!!! I have heard only stories of my grandmothers history with her hair. Here is a little background info for all of you out there in case you are curious:

My grandmother has been cutting and perming her own hair for forever!! (I know that takes serious talent and patience if you ask me) She also, has a wonderful brother that has been a very talented and experienced hairdresser for forever! The stories I had heard were about the cuts that weren't exactly her favorites. I was nervous and a little bit scared for this day.

But... Guess what everyone?!! That day came and went, and I have to say it was an amazing learning experience and a memory that I will cherish till the day I die!! I only did a basic trim... About a 1/2 inch off everywhere and a little re-shaping of the layers is all she was requiring. She even said,"don't worry about styling I'll just leave wet..." Those of you who know me as a hairdresser know that the style is my FAV part! So, after a bit of convincing... She said yes! I had so much fun and I hope my grandmother enjoyed herself as well.

Don't forget about Grandpa:
Talk about the cutest husband ever! He say on the waiting couch and read all the gossip magazines and supported both of us the whole time!

A MASSIVE thanks to my amazing Grandparents!! I will NEVER forget this day! You mean so much to me and I treasure every second I get with you!

The Marvelous Mary

Everyone: Meet Mary

This is a beautiful and inspirational woman that I have had the pleasure of having as a client and friend! Mary has been so good to me! She tracked me down and booked an appointment with me as soon as I started at Blossom! I've enjoyed every second of talking with Mary. She has a beautiful daughter that I love hearing about! Mary shared a few pictures of her adorable husband with me at her last appointment and I have to say I was so touched and so inspired to never take the small things for granted! She definitely got an amazing catch! But to be completely honest I think he is more blessed to have her as a wife!

Well, here is her color and cut break down:

Color:
We add highlights in the back, sides, and top. Some times we only add a beautiful bright blonde highlight and other times we will add a very subtle low light of a darker blonde to add dimension. We never to a touch up of color at the root because she is a lucky one and doesn't need it! The highlights blend with any of the few grays that she has is enough, that a touch up is not necessary. (lucky)

Hot tip #1:
Those of you that have a problem with their grays... If you are used to the color service: Partial Highlight with an added Root Touch-up. And are wanting to get away from the root touch up and allow some of your grays to start subtly growing in this would be a great service to start trying!

Hot tip # 2:
Those of you who have grays and do not color your hair BUT... Want to add some color! This would be a great service to try! Of course I would recommend starting with few added highlights and lowlights and go from there!

Cut:
We like to keep the length slightly above the shoulders. Shorter at the nape of the neck and (gradually) slightly longer the sides. Adding some layers gives her the option of wearing is blown back, as well as towards the face, wearing it sleek and straight, or wearing her natural texture! Versatile haircut! Very professional yet still fun to play with!! We like this cut because it is very complimentary to her face shape!! Love it!!

Let me know if you have any questions or if you would like to book for this color and/or cut consultation! I can't wait to see ya again Mary!! Thank you again!!
